Moving to Lake Elmo

Lake Elmo welcomes you to this beautiful quaint little town along Lake Elmo and Interstate 694. Lake Elmo is just minutes from St. Paul, offering residents the convenience of the big city without all the big city noise and hassle.

Lake Elmo belongs to the Stillwater Area Public Schools ISD #834. There are two schools in the city, Lake Elmo Elementary School and Oakland Jr. High School. There are ten elementary schools in the district for grades K-5th including a Valley Crossing Community School, an alternative elementary school with state of the art equipment, classes teaching independence and advanced classes in reading and math. There are two junior high schools for grades 6th through 8th and one high school for grades 9th through 12th. There is an Early Childhood Development facility and a learning center for all ages. Lake Elmo strives to provide its residents with the best parks and recreation facilities. There are 18 different parks in the city that cover over 471 acres of land. One of the main parks includes DeMontreville Park, which is located at 5700 Highlands Trail North. DeMontreville Park is located on 24 acres and has several lakes and ponds, a biking and cross country skiing trail, trail for walking and jogging, and plenty of flora and natural parkland. There are hundreds of miles of beautiful scenic walking trails in the city along some of the lakes and throughout the city. The City of Lake Elmo wants to make your life easier by providing you with information regarding everything from where the best place to eat to licensing your dog. To license your dog, you will need to contact City Hall at (651) 777-5510. All dogs in the city must have a license from four months and older. Dog licenses will be supplied by the city for $16 and they are good from January through December. The applicant must supply rabies vaccination forms and other pertinent vaccination information from the previous 24 months. The city provides you with a metallic tag, shaped differently for each year that it was issued. For more information, you may call City Hall or the Animal Control Services at (651) 356-4623.

The City of Lake Elmo loves its hunters and does what it can to make hunting season a wonderful and unforgettable time. According to municipal ordinances, all hunters shall not fire or discharge of a firearm or weapon five hundred feet from any residence whether it is habitable or not. All hunters carrying a weapon must be on land owned by the person carrying the loaded weapon unless written or other dated permission is granted.
